BOOK QUANTUMEDIA Cultural Considerations in the Age of Information By Gregory O'Toole; Publisher: Civic Media Press
At the outset we have the self. Beyond the self is the outside social world. How do our media communication technologies fit into this equation? Media, by affective nature and definition, are situated directly between the self and society and, at the same time, are indistinct of both, existing at a "quantum" social level, a phenomenon termed Quantumedia. No longer can media be separated out from either the individual or the community. Further, media act as a multi-layered communicative force field, an informational membrane between the two entities, and serve not only to reflect the self back onto the self, society back onto society, but also, and perhaps most importantly, as a point of interactive inversion where the self becomes part of society, and the society part of the self. This occurs only through a vast, complex layer of reflective light rays, analog signals, and binary code. It is in this way that a principle of mediated knowledge inversion comes to be.

PROJECT THE LEGITIMATION PROBLEM From the Eradication of the Metanarrative to the End of the 20th Century
Jean-Francois Lyotard writes that metanarratives legitimate. He also explains that the metanarrative has been eradicated from Western culture and that efficiency (i.e. a fast-track to profit) is the only model left leaving the current state of legitimation in a curious position. In order to understand the process leading to legitimation, this analysis works to establish the necessary flow toward the metanarrative: from knowledge, to establishing meaning, to legitimation. PROJECT ELECTROMANIA Observations from Inside A Media-Rich Culture: Jack Kerouac to the Present
ELECTROMANIA is a project of new media ethnography. The culturally documentary mobile phone and digital SLR images are the motivator, and the experimental text based narratives that result examine the photographic truths hidden in our everyday global society employ the expressionistic influences of the very media through which they are captured to tell a story of the every day. The project was in full swing from July 2005 until the latest post here in November 2008. Virtual Eq. Learning Project Published in Memefest Reader 2011
An interactive Web application project that I developed called The Virtual Eq. Learning Environment was recently published in the international Memefest book, DEMONSTRATING RELEVANCE: RESPONSE-ABILITY -
Theory, practice and imagination of socially responsive communication. The book brings a different, fresh and radical interdisciplinary reflexive look at communications and media practices and theories. It contains textual and visual works that were created between 2002 and 2009 in the context of the International Festival of Radical Communication MEMEFEST and additional new reflections written in the end of 2010. Editorial and curatorial work was conducted in 2010.
The collection of texts is constructive and responsible. With its uncompromising radical approach, it critically questions the ideology and practice of mainstream media-communication discourse. It is looking for theoretical and practical solutions where they are: in socio-responsible conceptualization. The collection of texts is not modeled after a template. It is unique, original and visually invaluable. It combines different visual perspectives and theoretical approaches that are indispensable for the field of social, cultural, media and communication, as well as design studies. A reflexive interlace of theory and practice. It is designed for anyone interested in new aspects of socio-critical thinking: professionals in the field of communication, communication educators with a social fibre, students in cultural, media and communication programs, students of design and art, as well as media activists. Book is in English and in Slovene language. This is a key text for anyone interested in socially responsive communication.
